About each permit
Fire Permit — Places of Assembly
$268.56 for 50-100 occupants, $402.84 for 101-299, $537.12 for 300 or more. Each includes part of the cost of the life safety inspection. A dining room seating 50 or more crosses this threshold, so most sit-down restaurants need it and most takeaway counters do not.
Fire Marshall Approval
$268.56 up to 50,000 sq ft; $402.84 from 50,000 to 100,000; $805.68 from 100,001 to 500,000; $1,074.24 above 500,001. A re-inspection for anything other than fire protection systems and underground fuel storage tanks is $402.84 — as much as the approval itself on a mid-size space, so failing once is expensive.
Fire Permit — LP Gas on a Mobile Food Unit
$201.41 where liquefied petroleum gas is used on a mobile food unit. The same code section charges $402.84 for LP gas used for anything else, so the mobile food unit rate is a concession — check the permit is issued under the right one.
Fire Alarm Permit
$100.71 for a new permit, $67.13 to renew. A false alarm response is charged at $483.40 where the site is not permitted or the permit's allowance of calls has been used up, plus a $145.01 collection fee (Sec. 11-19) — holding a current permit is what keeps that from applying.
