About each permit
Septic (OSTDS) Construction Permit and Inspection
The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County's Onsite Sewage Disposal page states that the Florida Department of Environmental Protection manages septic permitting in 16 listed counties, none of them Manatee, and that outside those counties the local county health department will still handle septic system permitting and inspections. A business building, expanding or repairing a septic system in Manatee County therefore applies to DOH-Manatee Environmental Public Health. The fee amounts are not published on that page; contact the office at 941-714-7593. A business on a public sewer has no septic permit.
Public Pool and Bathing Place Operating Permit
The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County's Pools and Spas page states that “The Florida Department of Health regulates all public pools and bathing places as defined in Chapter 64E-9 of the Florida Administrative Code.” A fitness studio whose pool or spa meets that definition holds a DOH operating permit in addition to the county's construction permit for the pool, recorded above. The fee amount is not published on the DOH-Manatee page; contact the office at 941-714-7593. A studio without a pool or spa has no pool permit.
