Sidewalk Café Permit (Downtown Sidewalk Use Zone)
Under section 90-380 of the Code of Ordinances, restaurants and food establishments in the downtown sidewalk use zone shown in section 90-361 may apply for a permit to use part of the public sidewalk as a sidewalk café, and the permit, with any construction and building permits, must be issued before the café is installed. The holder signs a license agreement with the City covering maintenance, indemnity and continuous liability insurance. The permit is valid for two years. The director of planning administers the article under section 90-362. Sidewalk cafés are permitted only inside that downtown zone.
Site Plan Application
$350.00 per new site plan application under Appendix A section 150-203A as amended by the ordinance the City Council approved on 5 October 2026, effective on passage; from the fifth resubmittal, $150.00 is charged for each round of review, and post-approval revisions are not included. Planning fee listings the City published before 5 October 2026, including the 2026 Development Guide linked from the Planning page, predate this ordinance; the ordinance's $350.00 governs.
Specific Use Permit
$750.00 per new specific use permit application under Appendix A section 150-203A as amended by the ordinance the City Council approved on 5 October 2026, effective on passage; from the fifth resubmittal, $150.00 is charged for each round of review. The Unified Development Code's Table of Uses marks a use 'S' where a specific use permit is required, and lists minor and major vehicle repair, drive-in or drive-through restaurants and retail sales with an 'S' in some zoning districts. Fee listings published before 5 October 2026 predate this ordinance; its $750.00 governs.
Zoning Verification Letter
$50.00 per request plus applicable document copying charges, under Appendix A section 150-203A as amended by the ordinance the City Council approved on 5 October 2026, effective on passage. A zoning verification letter is a written statement from the Planning Division of a property's zoning; it is optional and is not a permit to operate. The Planning office is at 401 E.
