About each permit
Solicitor's Permit
Under section 78-3 of the Code of Ordinances it is unlawful to peddle, sell, solicit, canvass or take orders for services or goods on a sidewalk, parking lot or parkway within the city or from door to door without a City permit. The Police Department's Solicitor's Permit page states that solicitor permits are valid for six months and that processing takes up to 10 business days. Section 78-3(n) lets state-licensed salespeople and commercial agents dealing with local businesses register for a fee-free exemption certificate instead.
