No fee applies. The City Clerk's own complete license-category list (Animal, Food & Beverage, Security Services, Vehicles/Business Drivers, Vendor/Other) contains no salon- or barbershop-specific municipal product, beyond the general building, zoning, and sign requirements recorded elsewhere in this file. Idaho's own DOPL Barber or Cosmetology Establishment License, recorded at the state layer, remains the real trade-specific credential for this industry.
Veterinary Facility Municipal License (not found)
No fee applies. Boise's own animal-licensing code covers individual pet licenses and 'non-commercial kennels' (five or more dogs or cats kept at a single household) — a consumer pet-ownership product, not a veterinary-clinic or commercial-kennel business credential — and the City Clerk's own license-category list contains no separate veterinary-premises license. A restaurant, bar, larger fitness studio, or big-box retail space with a gathering area over that threshold triggers this fee; most small restaurants, coffee shops, boutique retail stores, and salons do not.
Food and Beverage License (Eating and Drinking License)
An annual license for fixed-location restaurants and coffee shops, priced at $84.00 on the City Clerk's Licensing Fee Schedule under the combined label 'Eating and Drinking / Food & Beverage License'; the City's own licensing page for the same product is titled 'Food and Beverage License'. Prerequisites the City's own page states: a current Idaho Secretary of State business registration, a Central District Health permit, a Certificate of Occupancy, and (if the occupancy permit allows more than 50 guests) an Assembly Permit. The page's own text says 'All restaurants (eating/drinking establishments and vendors) must obtain a license from the City of Boise,' and that licenses must be renewed annually. The City's dedicated 'Eating and Drinking - Mobile' license page returns HTTP 410 Gone, and the City's Vendor License is the separately priced product listed for mobile food trucks; this record applies the Food and Beverage License to fixed-location restaurants and coffee shops. The page's 'vendors' wording is not reconciled with the Vendor License on any City page cited here.
Vendor License
This City Clerk-issued license, not a food-safety permit, is Boise's own local layer for a food truck vending from a mobile cart, vehicle, or trailer, priced and bonded exactly as the City's own Vendor License page states; Downtown vendors must additionally occupy an authorized street-vending medallion. A 2024 city ordinance eliminated a separate, duplicative 'mobile eating and drinking establishment' license that had also applied to food trucks — the City's own former page for that license now returns HTTP 410 Gone — leaving this Vendor License as the real remaining city-level product for street vending. The City's own Vendor License page defines a vendor broadly as any business or person who 'sells or offers to take orders or sell food, beverages, goods or merchandise from a mobile vending cart, mobile vending vehicle or mobile vending trailer, or any other type of conveyance or from one's person,' and the page lists no exemption for a truck working an approved farmers market, a private event, or private property, so the license is recorded here as applying on that broad, published definition. This sits alongside, not instead of, Central District Health's own Mobile Food Establishment permit and Boise Fire's own Mobile Food Preparation Vehicle permit, both recorded separately below.
General Business License — City of Boise Position
The City Clerk's own licensing page organizes every license Boise issues into five categories — Animal, Food and Alcohol Beverage, Security Services, Vehicle Licensing and Other — and none of them is a catch-all license for simply operating a business, so there is no fee for a universal Boise business license. On that published structure, a retail store, salon, fitness studio, veterinary clinic, contractor's office, or auto repair shop that serves no alcohol, gathers no crowd over 50 people, runs no mobile vending cart, and installs no private security alarm holds no City Clerk license. Idaho Code sections 50-301 and 50-307 give Boise the legal authority to license trades and businesses generally, and Boise's Title 3 uses that authority for specific, named activities (food and beverage service, mobile vending, large-occupancy assembly, and similar), each listed as its own Boise record.
