The Volusia County Fire Rescue Permit Requirements, a list of operations and materials that need a fire permit and linked from the county's current Fire Prevention Code Requirement page, lists at item 71 an annual permit "for operation of service stations and repair garages", citing Florida Fire Prevention Code sections 30.1.13 and 30.2.1.1. An auto repair shop in unincorporated Volusia County should therefore arrange this operational permit with Volusia County Fire Rescue, Fire Prevention, 125 W. New York Ave., Suite 220, DeLand (West Volusia 386-736-5940, Daytona Beach 386-254-4657, New Smyrna Beach 386-423-3852). The same list includes other operational permits that can reach an auto repair business, such as automotive fuel servicing and automobile wrecking yards. Call Fire Rescue for the current fee.
