About each permit

Vehicle Food Sales License (City of Oklahoma City)

This is the City's own local mobile-food license, separate from Oklahoma's statewide mobile-food regulation. Effective November 1, 2025, Oklahoma's Food Truck Freedom Act (HB 1076) lets any Oklahoma State Department of Health-licensed mobile food establishment operate in any local jurisdiction statewide, and caps what a local authority may charge for its own permit at that authority's actual administrative cost — the City's new flat $140.00 rate (down from tiers as high as $250) is consistent with that new state cap, though no City document states it as a direct response to it. A separate 'Vehicle Food Sales Court' license (also $140.00, §60-21-57) applies instead where multiple mobile vendors operate together at one fixed site.

Auto Repair Shop — City License and Fire Permit Lists (Oklahoma City)

The City's Business Licensing page lists no automotive-repair-specific municipal business license (its 'Used Auto Dealer & Salvage' license covers dealers in used automobiles, parts and salvage, not repair). Unlike Eugene, Oregon, where the local fire code separately prices a $200/year 'repair garage' operational permit, Oklahoma City Fire's own Permits page (fire alarm, sprinkler, fire suppression, hazardous materials, burn, electronic door hardware, plant extraction, carbon dioxide enrichment, emergency responder radio coverage) lists no repair-garage-specific line item either, so the City charges no fee tied to this trade specifically, beyond whatever building, sign, zoning and generic fire-code requirements (e.g., hazardous-materials storage above a threshold) its premises separately trigger.

Salon / Barbershop Licensing — State Board Shop License Applies (Oklahoma City)

The City's Business Licensing page lists no hairdresser-, barber-, beauty-shop- or cosmetology-specific municipal license among its named activities (the closest neighbouring category, Massage Establishment at $200/year, covers establishments deriving income from the practice of massage, not a hair or nail salon), so the City charges no fee under this record. A salon here owes only whatever building, sign and zoning requirements its premises trigger, on top of the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology's own state shop license.

Contractor Registration (by Trade)

Registration is by trade, not by project type. The City's Contractor Registration page labels its 'Building Contractor' registration Residential Only and lists no separate registration category for a general commercial building contractor, while the Business Licensing page states that all contractors must register with the City and that only registered contractors can purchase permits. Any of the enumerated TRADE contractors above — electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc. — must register in that trade regardless of whether the site is residential or commercial. All trade contractors must also hold a current Oklahoma Construction Industries Board (CIB) license before the City will register them.

Food Service Establishment License (City of Oklahoma City)

This is the City's own local license for 'any permanent, temporary, or mobile establishment where food or drink is prepared, served, kept or stored for retail sale,' issued through the City's online licensing system — separate from and additional to Oklahoma's own $425 (new)/$335 (renewal) statewide Food Establishment License already recorded at the state layer. A current OCCHD inspection approval is a mandatory prerequisite before the City will issue this license; renewal also requires a current Oklahoma State Department of Health permit and a valid Oklahoma Tax Commission sales-tax permit. Before July 1, 2026 this license was tiered by employee count ($50/$75/$100 for 10-or-fewer/11-to-25/25-or-more employees, $35 for Class D, $25 for Class E) — the City's 2024 citywide fee study collapsed every Title 21 food-license category to this one flat $140.00 rate.

General Business License — City of Oklahoma City License List (Retail, Veterinary, Fitness)

The City's own Business Licensing page lists specific licensed activities by name (among them advertising, airport/heliport, auction sales, beverage bottling works, coin-operated devices, day care and day camps, gasoline and oil stations, hotels/motels, kennels, massage establishments, mobile home parks, outdoor sellers, pawnbrokers, used auto dealers and salvage, used merchandise and vehicle food sales) rather than issuing one general business license. The page lists no license for a generic retail store, veterinary clinic or fitness/gym studio, so the City charges no fee under this record. No City of Oklahoma City document publishes a general occupation tax in place of a business license, unlike Eugene, Oregon, which layers its Community Safety Payroll Tax over a similar closed list.

Nursery / Day Camp License (City of Oklahoma City)

This is the City's own local license for a child-care centre or nursery, separate from and additional to the Oklahoma Human Services Child Care License recorded at the state layer, which carries no confirmed fee of its own. The City's Business Licensing page still displays the pre-fee-study $92.50 base figure alongside the $1-per-child add-on; the $100.00 base shown here reflects the City's own dated fee-study document effective July 1, 2026, which supersedes it — the per-child add-on itself does not appear in that fee-study document and is treated as unchanged. 'Day Camp' is licensed as a distinct category from 'Nursery' at the same base rate; confirm with the Licensing Office (405-297-2606) which category applies to a specific childcare business model.
