About each permit

Commercial On-Site Sewage Facility Permit

A new commercial system is $400 plus the $10 state-mandated septic fee, rising to $550 plus $10 in the floodplain; an add-on to an existing system is $200 plus $10, or $335 plus $10 in the floodplain. Reinspection is $150 and non-compliance $200 per incident. This is the permit that catches restaurants and childcare centres opening outside a city sewer district, and it is a real constraint on siting rather than a formality — a subdivision review is $340 on top.

Temporary Event and Farmers Market Food Permit

$52 for a single event of up to 14 days and $200 for a multiple-event permit covering a year. A farmers market is $100. The two lines worth knowing are the mass gathering fees: $400 under 5,000 people and $800 above, which are charged to the organiser and are the largest single food-side figures on the schedule.

Retail Food Establishment Permit

$250 low volume, $375 mid volume and $500 high volume — the cheapest banded schedule of any jurisdiction held here, and well under the $773 that Senate Bill 1008 would permit at the top. Amending an existing permit rather than taking a new one is markedly cheaper: $100 low, $150 mid, $200 high. An initial inspection is $150 and a requested inspection or reinspection $150. The late fee is $100.
