County Local Fee on TABC Alcohol Permits
The Lubbock County Tax Assessor-Collector's Beer & Liquor License page states that the office "receives TABC permit fees but does not issue or renew permits", sends new applications and renewals to TABC, and links to a payment page to "pay your Beer & Liquor License Fees". Alcoholic Beverage Code sections 11.38 and 61.36 cap a county fee at one-half of the statutory fee as of August 31, 2021, and section 11.38(d) exempts a mixed beverage permit during the three years after it is issued. Health & Safety Code section 437.01235 bars a county from charging this fee to a food service establishment, retail food store, mobile food unit, roadside food vendor or temporary food service establishment that has already paid a fee to operate to DSHS or to any county, municipality or public health district. The county rate is not published on the Beer & Liquor License page; call 806-775-1350 or email TaxBookkeeping@lubbockcounty.gov for the amount.
