About each permit
Temporary Event Permit
$52, the state ceiling, for an establishment operating no more than 14 consecutive days in conjunction with a single event or celebration. The application must be in at least five days before the event; late applications attract fees totalling $100, which is nearly twice the permit itself.
Farmers Market Vendor Permit
$75 per vendor, and the trigger is specific: only vendors with open food handling, or offering food or drink needing time or temperature control, need one. A grower selling whole uncut produce needs nothing. Longview defines a farmers market as a designated location for a recurring event where a majority of vendors are farmers or food producers selling directly to the consumer — so a market that drifts away from that composition may not qualify.
Re-Inspection and Personalised Training Fee
$200, triggered by a health rating of C or below — a published threshold, which is more useful than the fee. On-site training is included in the price rather than charged separately, so the visit is partly remedial rather than purely punitive. The City's Development Services Fee Schedule 2025-2026 lists a separate Environmental Health Re-Inspection fee of $150, and the FY2026-27 fee resolution presented to Council on 17 September 2026 prints the same $150 Re-Inspection Fee; the October 2025 food fee sheet filed with DSHS described a $150 scheduled inspection available to non-profits, daycares and schools.
Food Service Establishment Permit
Three categories, each with its inspection frequency stated: Category I — full service, fast food, supermarket or meat market — is $400 and inspected quarterly; Category II — bakery, ice cream, donut shop, concession, hotel — is $300 and inspected twice a year; Category III — commissary, lounge or bar, packaged food store — is $250 and inspected annually. A one-time application fee of $200 is charged on each application for a fixed establishment, on top of the permit. Every permit expires on 31 December whatever the issue date, and a renewal not paid or postmarked by then adds $100.
Public or Semi-Public Swimming Pool Permit
The City's Swimming Pool Inspections page states that Environmental Health issues annual permits for swimming pools open to and available for public use, and regulates all aquatic facilities, including pools, spas and splash pads. The pool permit is $300 with a $100 application fee, re-inspection is $100 per occurrence, the late fee is $100 and Certified Pool Operator registration is $30, as published on the City's Development Services Fee Schedule 2025-2026. The FY2026-27 fee resolution presented to City Council on 17 September 2026 prints the same figures. New construction, remodelling or circulation-system changes may need plans reviewed by Building Inspection and a health inspector. A studio or centre without a pool, spa or splash pad has no pool permit.
