About each permit
School Cafeteria and Child Care Kitchen Inspection
$150 for a requested ISD cafeteria inspection, which the schedule prices as one inspection per semester across both autumn and spring, and $100 for a requested child care kitchen inspection. Where a for-profit private contractor runs the ISD cafeteria the full $258 food permit applies instead — the same split Prosper draws between district-owned and privately run school food, and the line to check before assuming a school kitchen is exempt. A non-profit applying for an inspection beyond its one yearly inspection pays $100.
Public Pool and Spa Permit
$315 a year, the dearest annual pool permit recorded in this dataset — against $215 in Wichita Falls, $225 in Allen and $300 in Prosper. Plan review and the opening inspection are a further $200, so a new hotel or apartment pool costs $515 in its first year. The late fee is $100. Budget the plan review before construction rather than at opening; it is charged whether or not the pool passes.
Food Establishment Permit
$258 up to $49,999.99 of gross annual food sales, $515 from $50,000 to $149,999.99, and $700 at $150,000 or more. That top figure is worth pausing on: nearly every Texas jurisdiction in this dataset charges $773 there, because SB 1008 caps a local annual fee at what DSHS charges biennially and most authorities simply adopt the cap. Tarrant does not — it charges $73 a year less. An adjunct permit for an additional permit at the same location is $258; amending an existing permit is cheaper at $125, $250 or $375 by band. A required reinspection is $200 and the late fee $100.
Temporary Food Establishment Permit
$35 for one to five days and $60 for six to fourteen — among the cheapest temporary food permits held here, and priced on duration rather than on notice given, so there is no penalty for applying late. A farmers market permit is $100. A duplicate permit is $15.
