Veterinary Establishment Registration

Virginia registers premises as well as people, and the expiry is a fixed calendar date rather than an anniversary — everything expires on 1 January, so a registration granted in November lasts about six weeks. Only two categories exist, stationary and ambulatory; there is no mobile or restricted tier. A registered veterinarian-in-charge is required before the establishment may operate, and changing that person costs $40. Apply forty-five days before opening, relocating or changing category. Inspection is a precondition, and a failed one triggers a $300 reinspection fee that is itself unprofessional conduct to leave unpaid — the establishment is treated as unregistered until it is. Letting it lapse past thirty days can cost $650 in total and reinstatement is discretionary.
