About each permit

Sales Tax Permit

This used to cost $10, and does not anymore — a 2021 law eliminated the fee for any permit period starting on or after 1 July 2022, and the revenue department has since reminded holders explicitly that while there is no longer a fee, the permit still has to be renewed every year. So the paperwork obligation survived the price cut intact: a separate permit is required for each place of business, and it must be renewed annually on the state's July-to-June cycle even though nothing is owed for doing so.
