Certificate of Use
This is a separate, DPS-issued zoning document from the Building Department's own 'certificate of occupancy,' which is issued after final structural inspection with no separate stand-alone fee — it is bundled into the building permit already paid.
Sign Permit
The Department of Planning Services Fee Schedule effective January 1, 2026 prices this zoning sign permit at $200 per façade and per sign type, on-premise or off-premise, in all zoning districts. A separate Building Department structural/electrical sign-installation permit also applies, minimum $60 for a non-illuminated sign or an electric/mobile sign.
Class II Child Care Home Special Use Approval
Applies to a Class II Child Care Home requiring Board of Zoning Appeals review. A Certificate of Use renewal for a child-care license is separately $50. City Code section IX.95 also requires the Fort Wayne Fire Department, on behalf of the county health department, to inspect for CPR-certification compliance annually, with the certificate displayed on site.
