About each permit

Food Service, Mobile Food, Temporary Event & Pop-Up Food Permits

The Fulton County Board of Health is a countywide, single-county Georgia public health district, and Code §34-4(b) requires every municipality and county agency to obtain the Board's written sanitary-compliance statement before issuing or renewing a business license for an establishment that needs Board of Health approval — so this permit reaches a restaurant, coffee shop or food truck anywhere in the county's 15 incorporated cities, including Atlanta, as well as the Fulton Industrial District. The Board's restaurant-inspection page formerly lived on fultoncountyga.gov, which now returns a dead link for that specific page; the Board's current site is fultoncountyboh.com, 10 Park Place S.E., Atlanta, GA 30303 (770-520-7500), which fultoncountyga.gov's own Board of Health landing page links to directly. The fee schedule itself, approved by the Board of Commissioners effective April 1, 2022, is unchanged and still the current schedule linked from the Board's live page.

Body Art (Tattoo/Piercing) Establishment Permit

A salon in Fulton County that offers tattooing or piercing needs this permit from the Fulton County Board of Health in addition to any general salon licensing, and the requirement reaches every incorporated city in the county as well as the Fulton Industrial District under Code §34-4(b). A salon offering only hair, nail or skin services without tattooing or piercing is outside this specific permit. Plan review for a new establishment is $700, the annual inspection is $550, a body artist's own license is $150, a guest body artist pays $75 per week, and a temporary establishment operating 1-7 days pays $400, all under the Board's fee schedule effective April 1, 2022.

Public Swimming Pool Permit

A fitness studio in Fulton County that operates a swimming pool needs this permit from the Fulton County Board of Health, which reaches every incorporated city in the county as well as the Fulton Industrial District because Code §34-4(b) ties sanitary approval to every business license countywide. A studio without a pool has no obligation under this specific program. Plan review scales from $525 to $1,200 by square footage, and the annual inspection is $525 for a seasonal pool or $700 for a year-round pool, under the Board's fee schedule effective April 1, 2022 and still current as hosted on fultoncountyboh.com.

Tourist Accommodation (Hotel/Motel) Permit

A hotel, motel or other tourist accommodation operating anywhere in Fulton County — inside any of the county's 15 incorporated cities or in the Fulton Industrial District — needs this permit from the Fulton County Board of Health, which reaches the whole county under Code §34-4(b)'s business-license sanitary-approval requirement. Plan review for a new or remodeled property ranges from $375 for a 1-20 room property to $825 for a property with over 100 rooms, and the annual inspection fee ranges from $475 to $900 across the same room-count tiers, under the Board's fee schedule effective April 1, 2022.

On-Site Sewage Management / Septic / Well Permit

This permit applies only to a Fulton County business on a septic system or a private well rather than public sewer and water, and it reaches every incorporated city in the county as well as the Fulton Industrial District under Code §34-4(b)'s countywide sanitary-approval rule. A new commercial septic system of 2,000 gallons per day or less costs $450 to permit and inspect, rising to $600 above that flow rate, and a well location review and permit is a separate $250, all under the Fulton County Board of Health's fee schedule effective April 1, 2022. A business already connected to public sewer and water service falls outside this program.
