About each permit
Fire Prevention Inspection
All new businesses within the City must pass a fire department inspection prior to the issuance of a Business Registration, and existing commercial occupancies of the types named above are inspected annually thereafter, per the Fire Department's own page. No fee for either the pre-registration or the annual inspection is published on that page or in the Community Development fee schedule; contact the Las Cruces Fire Department's Prevention Bureau for any charge.
Fire Systems Permit Fees (Sprinkler, Alarm, Hood, Fire Pump)
These are the Fire Prevention Division's own plan-review and inspection fees for fire suppression, sprinkler and hood systems — priced using the same schedule as the Mechanical Permit Fee, per the fee document's own text. An after-hours fire inspection, where staff are available, is billed at $60/hour with a 2-hour minimum. This is separate from, and in addition to, the general Commercial Building Permit fee recorded above when the work accompanies new construction or a remodel.
