About each permit
Food Establishment Permit
Issued by the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County, a separate municipal corporation under IC 16-22-8 — not Indianapolis's consolidated city-county government. A 501(c)(3) indigent/needy-feeding organization pays $20; a school selling only beverages/prepackaged food pays $80.
Mobile Retail Food Permit
A temporary food establishment (not a standing mobile unit) is priced separately: $40 for the first day plus $15 per additional day, capped at 14 days; an annual multi-event license is $325. The Health & Hospital Corporation Code, Chapter 8 (Gen. Ord. 8-2024, effective November 1, 2024), states that its Type I–III mobile fee schedules became effective January 1, 2025.
