About each permit
Zoning Approvals: Home Occupation, Conditional Use and Temporary Use (unincorporated Twin Falls County)
County Code 8-1-4 (Ord. 286, 8-19-2024) states: "This zoning code is effective within the unincorporated portions of Twin Falls County". The Planning & Zoning applications page offers Home Occupation, Conditional Use, Temporary Use, Floodplain Development, Variance and Rezone applications among others. A home-based salon, contractor's office, small childcare or fitness business in the unincorporated county uses the Home Occupation application; a business whose use needs a conditional use permit in its zone applies through a public hearing. The Community Development Services page cites Twin Falls County Code 8-6(A-F) and Idaho Code 67-6521 for conditional uses and states: "Uses that are not listed in the ordinance will not be approved." It also states that the Planning & Zoning Commission meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m., and that when more than eight applications arrive in a month a request can move to the following month. Zoning fees are those of Exhibit B to Resolution No. 2025-035, adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on 14 August 2025 as recorded in its August 2025 minutes.
