Electrical Permit (Hall County Building Department)

Hall County adopts the National Electrical Code, 2023 Edition, with county amendments; the Electricity article of the Hall County Building Codes states that it applies "to all structures, constructed, assembled or placed within the County zoning jurisdiction" and provides standards for electrical wiring as identified in the Nebraska State Electrical Act. Electrical work on business premises is permitted through the Hall County Building Department on the county's Electrical Permit Application, which the electrical contractor signs, confirming responsibility to obtain permits before work and to schedule required inspections. The Hall County building code provides that permit fees are set by the Hall County Fee Schedule; that schedule is not published on the Building Department's page, and the figures here are the ones printed on the county's own current application form, linked from that page. For commercial work the form lists $5.00 per branch circuit or feeder, $20.00 for an existing electrical service, and service charges by amperage from $25.00 (1-100 amps) to $185.00 (801-1000 amps), plus $20.00 for each additional 100 amps; the minimum permit fee is $25.00. The state electrical license held by the contractor is a separate state record. Building Permit (Hall County Building Department)

The Hall County Building Codes adopt the 2021 International Building Code and the 2021 International Residential Code and amend Section 105 and Section R105 so that no person, firm or corporation shall "erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert, or demolish, equip, use, occupy, or maintain any building or structure" without "first obtaining a separate building permit for each such building or structure from the Building Department." A business building, enlarging or altering premises applies with the county's Building Permit Application. The code document is titled "Hall County Building Codes including the Towns of Alda, Cairo, Doniphan, Wood River". Under the same amendment, no permit is issued until the County Board authorizes it by resolution where the property does not front on a dedicated street or public road, where a subdivision required by state statute has not been lawfully approved and recorded with the Register of Deeds, or where the County Planning Commission certifies that surface water drainage is inadequate or that drainage from the property will add to impounding of water on a public street or road. The permit fee is set by the Hall County Fee Schedule; the dollar amount is not published on the Building Department's page or on the application form. A site in the unincorporated area within two miles of a first-class city's limits may fall under that city's ordinances (Neb. Rev. Stat. 16-901). Hall County adopts the Uniform Plumbing Code, 2021 Edition, with county amendments. The amended Subsection 104.5 provides that permit fees are set in accordance with the Hall County Fee Schedule. The Hall County building code provides that permit fees are set by the Hall County Fee Schedule; that schedule is not published on the Building Department's page, and the figures here are the ones printed on the county's own current application form, linked from that page. For commercial construction or more than 3 family units, the form lists $61.00 for a project cost up to $1,500.00, 4% of project cost from $1,501.00 to $80,000.00, and $3,200 above $80,000.00.
