What does a restaurant need in Osceola County Fl that other businesses do not?
Doggy Dining Permit (Dogs in Outdoor Dining Areas, Unincorporated Osceola)
County Code Sec. 12-1, adopted under F.S. §509.233, lets a public food service establishment in the unincorporated area of Osceola County allow patrons' dogs in a designated outdoor dining area, but only after it applies for and receives an annual permit from the county. The application includes a scaled diagram of the outdoor area, the days and hours dogs will be allowed, the establishment's Division of Hotels and Restaurants license number, and a certificate of commercial general liability insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate with no exclusion for animals or animal bites. Sec. 12-1 sets a non-refundable application fee of $150.00 and a $25.00 late fee per permit when a permit is not renewed within five days of expiry, and Appendix B of the county fee schedule, effective October 1, 2026 by Resolution #26-019R, as listed on the county's official fee schedule page, lists the permit at $150.00 for a new permit or renewal, with renewals going through the same review and Code Enforcement inspections as the original. Permits expire on June 30 each year and expire automatically on sale of the establishment rather than transferring to the new owner. Operating rules include leashed dogs, no dogs on chairs or tables, hand sanitizer at every table and posted signs for staff and patrons.
Food Service Employee Training and Manager Certification
Florida sets no price for either qualification — training is bought from private providers the Department has approved, so no amount is shown here because the state charges none. Two separate obligations sit behind that. Every food service employee must be trained within 60 days of being hired, and the certification lasts three years. Separately, each licensed establishment must have at least one certified food protection manager, whose certification lasts five years, and where four or more employees are working with food at one time a certified manager must be physically present. Beware one figure that circulates as though it were a card price: the statute lets the Department charge the certifying organisation no more than $5 per certified test. That is what the regulator bills the exam provider, not what a worker pays. Temporary food service vendors and vending machine operators are exempt from the manager requirement.
