About each permit
Sales, Use and Hotel Occupancy Tax License
Free to register — the regulation says "There is no registration fee" in those words. The five-year renewal is described as automatic, and in form it is, but it is conditional in substance: the Department will not renew where any Pennsylvania return is outstanding or any tax is owed, including amounts owed to the Department of Labor and Industry. So an unrelated payroll debt can cost you the license to sell. Register through myPATH, which is where this now happens — the PA-100 form formerly used for it has been retired. If you trade from more than one Pennsylvania location, a copy of the license must be displayed at each. Promoter licenses are the exception to the five-year cycle and renew annually. Operating without a license is a summary offence carrying a fine of $100 to $300 and up to thirty days.
