$100 for two years, and check any figure you see elsewhere — the Attorney General's own frequently asked questions page carries BOTH $100 and a stale $50, the $50 being the original statutory amount. The live registration portal states $100 three separate ways, and that is the figure recorded here; it adds a $2 processing fee for online credit card payment, and none for ACH. It is a registration rather than a license, and it only bites above a threshold: a contractor doing less than $5,000 of home improvement work in a calendar year is exempt, as is a home improvement retailer worth more than $50 million. Insurance is a prerequisite — at least $50,000 of personal injury and $50,000 of property damage cover. Subcontractors register separately in their own right. New home construction is not home improvement and is outside this entirely. Any contract over $500 must be in writing.
