About each permit
County Subdivision & Land Development Plan Review
When a subdivision or land development plan, or a sewage facilities planning module, for a project in Cumberland County is sent to the county Planning Department, the applicant pays the county's review fee. The Department's Subdivision & Land Development page states that the Planning Department, in conjunction with the Cumberland County Planning Commission, 'reviews planning and ordinance amendments and Subdivision and/or Land Development Plans for consistency with municipal planning documents and in the interest of public safety and regional impacts'. This record covers that county review and its fee only. Per the county's fee schedule effective November 2025 (linked on the Online Submission & Recording Procedures page as the fee schedule effective November 3, 2025), the fee is a $175.00 base fee plus $10.00 per lot, per dwelling unit or per 1,000 square feet of building footprint, depending on the plan type, and $100.00 per sewage module review, and the calculated amount should not exceed $3,000.00 before the convenience fee. Applicants complete the online application, which calculates the fee, and pay by e-check or credit card when they submit it.
