About each permit
Building Permit (Commercial)
Henderson revised this entire fee schedule effective October 1, 2025 — its first update in twenty years — and the schedule now escalates every January 1 by the prior year's CPI-U for the West Region (NRS Chapter 354). A Day Care facility is priced as its own distinct occupancy category on both the Building and Fire tables, even though no equivalent dedicated business-license classification for childcare could be found (see the header note and the childcare business-license record). Submitted through the City's DSC Online portal.
Sign Permit
This is the Building & Fire Safety Department's structural/electrical sign permit. A separate, additional Planning-side Master Sign Plan review (for a shopping center or multi-tenant site's overall sign program) is $274 under the Community Development Application Fee Schedule; a cheaper Temporary Sales/Promotional Sign Permit ($75) covers a short-term promotional sign instead of a permanent one.
Kitchen Hood Suppression System Permit
Required for a cooking hood suppression system in a restaurant, coffee shop/cafe kitchen, or a food truck's kitchen; applied for through the City's DSC Online portal alongside the kitchen equipment's mechanical/electrical permits.
Certificate of Occupancy
The fee is not published separately for the standard, first-issuance Certificate of Occupancy that closes out new construction: the schedule prices only a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy ($862 Building plus $359 Fire) and a 'Change of occupancy — no building modifications required or completed' fee ($681 Building plus $379 Fire). The original certificate's cost is most likely folded into the building permit's own inspection fee already paid, but the schedule does not say this explicitly, so this record leaves the figure unpublished rather than assumed. Confirm treatment for a specific project directly with Building and Fire Safety (702-267-3630).
Fire Review and Inspection of Business License
Applies broadly across an operating commercial business as part of the general business-license process, distinct from the new-construction Fire Plan Check/Inspection fees charged when a building permit is also being issued. Certain activities carry their own further $98-a-year Operational System Permit on top of this base fee — for example, 'Repair garages' (auto repair) and 'Mobile food preparation vehicle' (food trucks) are each named separately in the same table.
