About each permit
Auto Repair-Specific Municipal License (not found)
No fee applies — the same sources that list no salon-specific product list none for auto repair. The City's own instructional page lists 'Automotive Repair Shops' as an ordinary named example of a Commercial Registration, not a distinct licensed trade, and New Mexico has no statewide auto-repair license either (state layer). Motor vehicle repair is, however, expressly listed as a prohibited home occupation under RRMC Chapter 121, so an auto-repair business must register under a commercial address rather than a residential one.
Mobile Food Truck Business Registration & Fire Inspection
A city-specific combined fee, as stated in the City Clerk's own Food Truck Brochure. The $30 fire inspection component is the bottom band of the same city-wide Business Fire Inspection fee table recorded above, so both City documents give the same figure. The application must also include a copy of the operator's NM Environment Department Food Permit (the state's Food Establishment Permit, recorded at the state layer, since the brochure names NMED — not a county or city health authority — as the food-permitting authority here) and a signed Fire Inspection report from the Rio Rancho Fire Marshal. A truck selling only prepackaged food may substitute a letter from NMED confirming that status.
Salon/Barbershop-Specific Municipal License (not found)
No fee applies — the Business Registration ordinance (RRMC Chapter 110, including its own narrow Business License schedule under §110.22), the City's own instructional page and both fee schedules list no additional salon- or barbershop-specific municipal product beyond the general Business Registration recorded above. New Mexico's own Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists establishment license, recorded at the state layer, remains the real trade-specific credential for this industry. A home-based salon has its own additional Home Occupation Permit path, recorded separately above.
Business Registration
Every person engaging in business at a place of business inside Rio Rancho must hold this registration before operating, per RRMC §110.04 — the ordinance's own definition of 'place of business' expressly reaches a construction site, so a contractor without a permanent location in the city still registers, as an Out-of-City registration, at the identical $35 fee (per the City's own Out-of-City Business Registration page). Review routes through Development Services (zoning approval) and the Fire Marshal's Office (a fire inspection) before the Clerk issues the registration. A business separately licensed under the ordinance's own narrow Business License schedule (auctioneers, pawnbrokers, carnivals, cannabis establishments and similar named trades — none of the ten industries covered here) is exempt from this registration fee under §110.03(A) to avoid paying twice. Automotive repair shops, gyms, restaurants, retail stores, medical/veterinary offices and salons are all named on the City's own instructional page as ordinary examples of a Commercial Registration — none carries its own distinct municipal trade license (see the salon and auto-repair records below). A Home-Based registration for a residential care facility or home day care carries additional requirements — see the Residential Child Care Facility Permit record below.
