About each permit

Food Service Establishment Permit (Manchester Health Department)

Manchester is one of fifteen self-inspecting New Hampshire cities and towns recorded at the New Hampshire state layer, meaning the Manchester Health Department — not the state DHHS — is the real food-permitting authority here, licensing and inspecting food establishments directly. This permit is required in addition to, not instead of, the City Clerk's own Food Service Establishment Business License recorded above. The Department's own current permit application form still lists 'mobile food operations' as folded into this same Class III-A ($200.00) line, but the Department's own newer, live Mobile Food Units page instead prices mobile trucks and pushcarts separately under a two-tier Class II-M/III-M schedule recorded in its own line item below — the live mobile-specific page is treated here as current for food trucks and this table as current for fixed-premises restaurants and cafes.

Mobile Food Unit Permit (Manchester Health Department)

This is the Health Department's own current, live two-tier mobile food schedule, confirmed directly at manchesternh.gov: a fully enclosed food truck or trailer (Class II-M) at $365.00/year, or a hand-pushed pushcart limited to pre-packaged/unwrapped non-TCS foods (Class III-M, e.g. a hot-dog cart) at $220.00/year. A pushcart may serve only frankfurters as a cooked item, plus other fully cooked, ready-to-eat packaged foods — no raw animal products may be handled or cooked on a pushcart. This permit is required in addition to, not instead of, the City Clerk's own Peddler License recorded above and the state's own Hawkers & Peddlers License.

Temporary Food Establishment Permit (Manchester Health Department)

A permanent restaurant license does not authorize temporary event operations, and a Mobile Food Vendor already licensed by the Health Department must still contact the Department to determine whether a separate temporary permit applies. The Department's current application states $25.00/day.

Child Day-Care Facility Food Service Permit (Manchester Health Department)

This is a local childcare-specific fee, layered on top of New Hampshire DHHS's own Child Care Programme License recorded at the state layer: the Health Department's own current Food Service Establishment Permit Application names 'child day-care facilities' directly on its Class III-A line, priced at $200.00, the same figure charged to a small restaurant or cafe of 25 seats or fewer. The New Hampshire state-layer record separately notes that a local health officer and a local fire inspector must each approve a childcare premises before DHHS will issue its own license — Manchester's own Health Department and Fire Prevention Bureau are the agencies fulfilling that local role. This fee is tied to the facility's food-service function; a programme that prepares or serves no food on-site should confirm directly with the Health Department whether it still applies.
