About each permit

Building Permit and Commercial Plan Review (Unincorporated Greene County)

The Building Regulations page states that the Resource Management Department 'addresses rules, regulations, and issues for all unincorporated areas of Greene County.' A permit is required to 'construct, alter, repair, move, demolish or change a structure,' and 'A commercial permit is required when any owner or authorized agent intends to construct, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a structure.' The page states the county applies the 2012 International Codes, the 2011 National Electric Codes with adopted amendments, and Greene County Wastewater Standards. Plans take five sealed sets, and a set goes to the Health Department review when the project includes any type of food service. A permit is invalid if work is not started within six months or if an inspection is not conducted every six months.

Onsite Wastewater Permit and County Installer Certification (Unincorporated Greene County)

The Building Regulations page states: 'You will also need a permit to repair or replace a wastewater system or sewer line. If you are disconnecting from a septic system and connecting to city sewer, a permit will also be required.' The same page states that 'In the unincorporated area of Greene County, wastewater installers must be Greene County certified, as well as State Certified.' The regulations, dated January 2003, state that 'These standards have been adopted by the Greene County Building Commission and the Greene County Commission as a part of the Building Code for the unincorporated areas of Greene County in accordance with the provisions of Sections 701.035 and 701.047, RSMo.' They also state 'Fees are as adopted by the Greene County Commission,' with fee schedules kept in the Building Regulations Department.
