About each permit
Group and School Age Child Care License
A new programme starts on a provisional license valid six months and renewable once for six more, and only then moves to a regular two-year license; family child care runs on three years instead. The sequencing is easy to miss — you must attend a potential provider meeting before you may apply at all, and physical facility inspections for building, fire, water and lead paint all have to be certified. Small means up to ten children in a community setting outside a home; ten or more is a large programme. No fee is recorded for a large group or family child care license because none is published: neither application page carries a fees section and the Commonwealth's consolidated rates schedule has no early education section at all, so those figures have to come from the department directly.
