About each permit
Articles of Organization (LLC)
A hundred and fifty-five dollars — the identical fee Vermont charges to incorporate.
Articles of Incorporation
A hundred and fifty-five dollars — the same figure Vermont charges to form an LLC.
LLC Annual Report
Vermont measures this deadline against each entity's own fiscal year rather than one shared calendar date — three months out for an LLC. Falling out of good standing over a missed report costs $35 to reinstate.
Corporation Annual Report
Fifteen dollars more than the LLC annual report, and due slightly sooner after the fiscal year closes. Reinstatement after falling out of good standing costs $50.
Residential Contractor Registration
Required only above a real dollar floor: residential construction work estimated at $10,000 or more, including both labor and materials. Per the Office of Professional Regulation's Residential Contractor FAQs, citing 26 V.S.A. § 5501(b), the fee is $75 for an individual and $250 for a business organization, and a certificate of insurance must be uploaded with the initial and each biennial renewal application.
General Business License — Vermont Secretary of State Fee Schedule
No fee is listed for this record: the Secretary of State's Business Services Division Fees page sets out filing fees for entity registrations (corporations, LLCs, partnerships, cooperatives, nonprofits), assumed business names, trademarks, UCC filings, data brokers, telemarketers and amusement ride operators, and that schedule lists no general or basic business license. Industry licenses, where they apply, are issued by other agencies and are covered in the records below; towns and cities may have their own requirements.
