About each permit

Alcohol — Local-Option Dry/Wet Status by Municipality

Lancaster County charges no fee for alcohol sales — licensing is exclusively a state function, administered by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB). Per PLCB's own 'Pennsylvania Dry Municipalities' list (as of September 2025), 11 of the county's 61 municipalities are dry or partially dry for specific license categories: Caernarvon Township (Retail Liquor and Retail Beer, since 1951), Colerain Township (Retail Liquor and Retail Beer, since 1947), Drumore Township (Retail Liquor and Retail Beer, since 1934), East Drumore Township (Retail Liquor and Retail Beer since 1934, AND separately Wholesale Malt Beverage Distributor and FW&GS Store since 2005 — four distinct dry categories, not a partial reversal to wet), Eden Township (Retail Liquor and Retail Beer, since 1979), Fulton Township (Retail Liquor and Retail Beer, since 1935), Little Britain Township (Retail Liquor and Retail Beer, since 1934), Providence Township (Retail Liquor since 1935, Retail Beer since 1934), Strasburg Township — not Strasburg Borough, which is wet — (Retail Liquor and Retail Beer, since 1949), West Earl Township (Retail Liquor and Retail Beer, since 1936), and West Lampeter Township, which is dry for Retail Beer only since 1943 and wet for Retail Liquor. A business in any other Lancaster County municipality is subject only to PLCB's general statewide licensing framework.
