About each permit
Repair Garage Fire Code Permit
Listed on the City's own fee schedule under the International Fire Code's repair-garage-and-motor-fuel-dispensing operational permit category. Separately, the zoning code splits auto repair into 'Vehicle/Equipment Repair (Limited)' — work fully inside an enclosed building — and '(General)' — any body work, painting, or work not fully enclosed. The code's supplemental use standards (§911.04.A.73-.74) place Limited repair as a standalone use, subject to enclosure and setback standards, in the LNC, NDI and UNC Districts, with NDI and UNC additionally requiring the Approving Body to find no detrimental impact on surrounding properties; in the GT, DR and RIV Districts it is confined to an accessory use only, never standalone (the GT/DR/EMI subsection heading names EMI too, though its own standards text names only GT and DR). General repair carries the same setback and access standards wherever it operates, with that same Approving Body review required specifically in the NDI and UNC Districts.
Fire and Life Safety Registration and Inspection
Cut from $175 to $150 for 2025, a genuine year-over-year reduction rather than a typo — the fee schedule shows both figures side by side. A separate fire alarm system permit and fire suppression system permit maintenance fee each run $100 on issuance, on top of this registration.
