About each permit

Repair Garage & Motor Fuel-Dispensing Facility Fire Permit

Unlike Portland and Salem — where no trade-specific local requirement for auto repair could be found at all — Eugene-Springfield Fire's own fee schedule prices a standing $200/year operational permit specifically for 'repair garages and motor fuel-dispensing facilities.' This is on top of, not instead of, the general Community Safety Payroll Tax and any building/sign/zoning permits an auto repair shop's premises require.

Mobile Food Unit & Food Cart Pod Fire Permit

Applies specifically to a mobile food unit with appliances that produce smoke or grease-laden vapors, or to a food cart pod as a whole — a cart selling only prepackaged, non-cooked items would not trigger this permit. Unlike Multnomah County's food-cart-pod system (Portland's file), Lane County Environmental Health does not price a pod as its own separate food-safety license tier; this fire permit is the one place Eugene's own fee schedule names 'food cart pods' directly.

Fire Marshal Approval for Certified Child Care Centers

The State's own guidance for a certified child care center is explicit that 'you will also need approval from a fire marshal every 2 years' before the Department of Early Learning and Care will issue or renew the facility's license — for a Eugene facility, that is Eugene-Springfield Fire. Because the ESF fee schedule has no dedicated line item naming child care, this is billed at the Office's general hourly inspection rate rather than a flat fee like Salem's $120 Licensed Facility Inspection Fee. Applies to a certified child care CENTER; a certified family child care home operating in a private residence follows a different state-level inspection path not confirmed to require this same local fire sign-off.
