Veterinarian Rabies Certificate and County Registration Tags
Under 510 ILCS 5/8(c) a veterinarian immunizing a dog, cat or ferret against rabies must provide the Administrator of the county where the animal resides with a certificate of immunization, on a form approved by the Board and signed by the veterinarian. Under 510 ILCS 5/8(d) veterinarians who inoculate a dog must procure serially numbered tags from County Animal Control in the county where their office is located, one to be issued with each inoculation certificate. Will County Animal Protection Services (22452 S. Cherry Hill Rd., Joliet; 815-462-5633) states that most veterinary facilities in Will County issue a registration tag when a pet is vaccinated, and that it must have the vaccinating veterinarian's rabies certificate on file to issue a tag. The owner-paid tag fees on its page are $15 for a 1-year tag and $35 for a 3-year tag for a spayed or neutered animal, and $40 and $90 for an intact animal.
